FMI Welcomes Introduction of the Death Tax Repeal Act

Arlington, VA - Today, FMI – The Food Industry Association applauded the introduction of the Death Tax Repeal Act by Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-IA).

FMI Chief Public Policy Officer Jennifer Hatcher stated, “FMI and our independent operator members are tremendously appreciative of the leadership of Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Congressman and Ways & Means Committee Member Randy Feenstra to introduce the Death Tax Repeal Act. Family grocery stores are the lifeblood of many communities and must not be taxed out of existence if a family member unexpectedly dies. Senate Majority Leader Thune and Rep. Feenstra understand the challenge and are working hard to eliminate the tax burden and business interruption that the death tax imposes."

FMI also signed signed a letter joining more that 200 organizations pledging their support for the Death Tax Repeal Act.
