FMI Welcomes Agreement to Keep Our Nation’s Rail Networks Open

Arlington, VA – Today, FMI – The Food Industry Association President and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin issued the following statement on the successful negotiations between freight rail networks and rail worker unions to ensure our nation’s railroads remain operational and able to deliver critical products Americans rely on.

“FMI applauds the agreement reached early this morning between freight rail networks and their employees to ensure critical food products can continue to be manufactured and distributed to grocery stores and other facilities across the country. Freight rail plays an important role in our nation’s food supply chain, delivering raw materials and packaging to food manufacturing and processing facilities that produce goods that Americans rely on to keep their families healthy and nourished. We are pleased all parties continued negotiating in good faith and came to a mutually beneficial agreement that keeps our nation’s rail networks open for business.”
