FMI Celebrates Food & Ag Sectors in Feeding the Economy Study

WHO:
Food Marketing Institute

WHAT:
The Food Marketing Institute and a group of 23 food and agriculture organizations supported a nationwide economic impact study that recognizes one-fifth of the nation’s economy is linked, either directly or indirectly, to the food and agriculture sectors.

Leslie G. Sarasin, president and CEO of the Food Marketing Institute, issued the following statement: “Because of their strong bond with their shoppers, food retailers know that consumers seek a deeper connection with their food and want to know its story from farm to fork. The U.S. food supply chain creates that story everyday as we feed families and feed the American economy by providing jobs for nearly 23 million workers, spanning every congressional district in the country.”

This research is available at www.FeedingTheEconomy.com.

WHY:

To celebrate National Ag Day Week and the millions of workers who serve the food supply chain every day.

WHEN:

National Ag Week is March 10 – 16, 2019
