FOOD RETAIL INDUSTRY WELCOMES DEPARTMENT OF LABOR’S WITHDRAWAL OF INFORMAL JOINT EMPLOYER GUIDANCE

ARLINGTON, VA – The food retail industry gladly welcomes the news the Department of Labor’s (DOL) announcement that it will withdraw informal guidance on joint employment and independent contractors. This informal guidance was written in 2016 under the Obama Administration. The withdrawal of the guidance is a positive sign that the DOL is further considering the rule.

FMI’s Chief Public Policy Officer Jennifer Hatcher commented:

“We look forward to working with Secretary Acosta and his team on an approach that is more reflective of employee/employer relationships.”
