FMI Applauds White House Executive Order on Chip and PIN Data Solutions

ARLINGTON, VA – OCTOBER 17, 2014 – Food Marketing Institute (FMI) Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs Jennifer Hatcher released the following statement regarding the White House’s new Executive Order that offers enhancements to protect sensitive payment data:

“We applaud the President’s announcement today encouraging card-issuers to include both a chip and PIN on newly-issued cards. In addition, the Executive Order focuses on increased collaboration and information sharing aimed at eliminating vulnerabilities in the payments system. FMI met with the White House in the weeks leading up to this announcement, encouraging White House officials to advocate that a PIN be attached to chip-card transactions in order to increase the security of those transactions."
