FMI Hires Susan Krys to Manage FMI Connect, the Food Retail Industry’s Annual Trade Show

September 4, 2013 – ARLINGTON, VA – Today, the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) proudly announces the appointment of Susan Krys as FMI’s vice president of industry events. A seasoned event management professional, Krys adds a level of expertise to help FMI realize a stated objective of re-engineering the annual industry trade show, FMI Connect, to make it into an industry-wide focal event.

“Susan brings the focused skill-set and inspiring leadership  we need to elevate  our annual  FMI industry business forum into a dynamic experience that renews participants’ vision of what  food retail can be,” enthused Dagmar Farr, FMI’s senior vice president of member services. “Susan’s creative approach to trade show management and production will amplify our efforts to make FMI Connect of priceless value for all who attend in 2014 and beyond.”

Krys will be primarily responsible for growing FMI’s annual FMI Connect event organically and through strategic co-location partnerships, and recruiting and managing the relationship with co-location partners. Krys will draw from her previous efforts to pro-actively collaborate on researching, planning, coordinating and directing all attendance-building and promotion efforts. As a long-term goal, Krys will help to evolve the exhibit and tradeshow component of FMI Connect year over year.

Prior to joining FMI, Krys was senior director of expo, promotions and industry events at the American College of Cardiology (ACC) where she orchestrated industry participation for a meeting of 13,000 professional cardiovascular professionals and industry leaders. At ACC, she was most known for her implementation of new learning formats that created more meaningful interactions between attendees and exhibitors through both didactic and hands-on educational settings – resulting in significant, new annual revenue for the association.

Krys’ diverse trade show management experience spans two decades, with experience across medical, telecom and international audiences. Krys is an active member of multiple professional societies, including the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association and the International Association of Exhibitions and Events. She is an honors graduate of Miami University, Ohio.
