FMI Commends U.S. Senate for Passing Tax Cut Legislation

ARLINGTON, VA — December 15, 2010 — The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) released the following statement today from President and Chief Executive Officer   Leslie G. Sarasin about the U.S. Senate passing an economic package that would renew tax cuts for individuals and businesses and extend jobless benefits for an additional 13 months:

“The nation’s supermarkets congratulate the U.S. Senate for passing this important legislation to extend critical tax relief to all Americans. Keeping taxes low for small businesses, easing the burden of the estate tax on family-owned companies and allowing for enhanced depreciation of investments for businesses of all sizes are what we need to help our economy grow and create jobs. We encourage the U.S. House of Representatives take up this bill quickly to provide certainty to businesses and help the economy become prosperous once again.”
