Arlington, VA - Today, FMI – The Food Industry Association President and CEO Leslie G. Sarasin issued the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s TruthSocial post endorsing the bipartisan Credit Card Competition Act sponsored by Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS).
“FMI is grateful to President Trump for his endorsement of the Credit Card Competition Act to bring commonsense, market-based reform to the nation’s credit card system. For far too long, grocery customers and grocers around the country have been subject to exorbitant credit card swipe fees by the nation’s largest banks and card networks, driving up costs for everyday food purchases. President Trump understands that these runaway credit card swipe fees are harming American consumers and main street businesses. FMI applauds President Trump for his commitment to affordability and enacting the Credit Card Competition Act.”
