Each time a product is touched in the supply chain—in production, on the shelf, or in between—costs and availability are impacted. Although there are many variables that cause an increase in product handling, one of the most significant drivers is simply the way product is ordered. Ordering the right quantities of product can impact a myriad of operational costs including labor, workplace injuries, storage & floor space and product damage. Retailers are focused on and stand to gain from optimizing product flow through the supply chain. The webinar will outline some specific operational and environmental savings that can be achieved throughout the supply chain while ensuring any days on hand targets are not impacted. It will also review how specific order patterns impact labor inefficiencies causing product to be “case picked” as well as the importance of a stable unit load.
